Networks

The OPE is incorporated in a certain number of national networks for environmental monitoring. The partners in these networks have access to the same permanent protocols to carry out their environmental observations. The data gathered can thus be shared and compared at a national level.

Flora and fauna

  • The Vigie-Nature programme of the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN)
    • Common birds: STOC programme (Tracking of Common Birds over Time)
    • Monitoring of Flowering Plants: SPAF
    • Bat monitoring
  • RENECOFOR network (National Network for the long-term monitoring of forest ecosystems)
  • SOERE F-ORE-T Functioning of forest ecosystems subject to natural or manmade changes
  • ICOS-Ecosystems (Integrated Carbon Observation System): observation network for exchanges between ecosystems.

Air

  • AIRLOR network (approved association of air quality monitoring for Lorraine)
  • ICOS-Atmosphere (Integrated Carbon Observation System) - European Observatory for Greenhouse Gases.
  • SOERE GREAT-gases 'Greenhouse and REAcTive gases' (observation and research network for greenhouse and reactive gases). It relies on a network of national observation services made up of RAMCES (Atmospheric Network for Measuring Greenhouse Compounds) and MOZAIC (Measurement of OZone and water vapour by AIrbus in-service airCraft), which are integrated in the two main European infrastructures- ESFRI ICOS (www.icos-infrastructure.eu) and IAGOS (www.iagos.org).
  • RADOME network (the Météo-France network for real-time observation of weather forecasting from the ground).

Water

The Complementary Network for Water Monitoring: Water Information System under the European Water Framework Directive, water agencies.

Soil

  • Soil Quality Measurement Network (RMQS)
  • Soil Quality Bioindicator Programme ADEME (University of Rennes).

Remote sensing

The OPE will also be involved in developing territory-wide environmental applications (that will monitor land use, biomass, soil humidity etc.) that use remote sensing tools, especially as part of the ORFEO programme of the National Space Studies Centre (CNES), and the European Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) programme.
